Paola Palma is an Associate Professor in Film Studies at the University of Caen Normandy, a permanent member of the HisTeMé research laboratory (ER7455), an associate researcher at Thalim (UMR7172), and a lecturer at the École du Louvre (specialising in the History of Cinema).

A film historian, she specialises in the relationship between cinema and literature (her monograph Colette et le cinéma, Quidam, 2023), as well as in French-Italian film co-productions of the 1950s and 1960s. Together with Valérie Pozner, she co-edited Mariages à l’Européenne. Les coproductions cinématographiques intra-européennes depuis 1945 (AFRHC, 2019), and has published several articles and book chapters on co-productions. Her most recent contribution, co-authored with Dimitri Vezyroglou, is the chapter “French Cinema Cultural Policy since the 1940s: A National and Transnational Issue,” in Francesco Di Chiara (ed.), Film Policies in Europe (1945–1980). A Comparative Approach to the History of State Aid for Film (Palgrave Macmillan, 2025).
