Richard Patry

Richard Patry is the President of the Fédération nationale des cinémas français (FNCF).

Richard Patry has been Chairman of the Fédération nationale des cinémas français - a trade federation representing all cinemas in France - more than 6,300 cinemas and 2,000 establishments - since January 2013, after serving as Deputy Chairman for more than 20 years. 

He began his career as a projectionist, then as operations manager at the Cinémas Grand Mercure in Elbeuf (Normandy), before founding NOE Cinémas in 1987 when he bought the cinema of his childhood.

Today, 37 years later, Nord Ouest Exploitation Cinémas has 47 cinemas in 14 departments, 148 screens, 3,467,228 admissions in 2023, 9th place in the national circuit rankings and 50th place in the European circuit rankings. He is still Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. 

Since its creation in 2017, Richard Patry has also chaired the regional agency Normandie Images, which works to develop the film, audiovisual and multimedia industries.

He also holds a number of positions within inter-professional cinema bodies: Centre National du Cinéma, Bureau de Liaison des Industries Cinématographiques, Commission Supérieure Technique, Chambre Syndicale des Cinémas de Normandie, Cannes Film Festival, etc.

Richard Patry is a Knight of the Legion of Honour, an Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters and a Knight of the Order of Academic Palms.
