The International Classic Film Market
moves to the heart of Lyon Metropolis

For its 2026 edition, the Lumière Festival is taking a new step in establishing itself within the metropolitan area. For the first time, the Village Cinéma will be located at the Cité de l’Hôtel-Dieu.

This installation in this exceptional venue is made possible through the support of Lyon Metropolis.

Nestled in the very heart of the city, within the magnificent Grand Hôtel-Dieu—which was fully restored in 2019—it will offer a new 2,000 m² venue for festivalgoers and industry professionals alike.

The Village Cinéma will serve as both a venue for the general public—featuring a café, restaurant, bar, bookstore, DVD market, and exhibitions— and a professional venue featuring the spaces of the International Classic Film Market.

For the first time, it will be located at the Cité de l’Hôtel-Dieu, an iconic heritage site in the Lyon metropolitan area, close to the downtown hotels and movie theaters—the festival’s nerve centers.

Just an 8-minute metro ride away, the Institut Lumière and Rue du Premier-Film will remain the other heart of Lumière 2026, featuring the Hangar and Villa Lumière theaters, the bookstore, the gallery, and the café-restaurant.

Each year, the Lumière Festival takes place at some 50 venues across the Lyon Metropolitan Area and welcomes more than 160,000 festivalgoers. The Lumière Festival will take place from October 10 to 18, 2026, and the International Classic Film Market from October 13 to 16, 2026.

In partnership with Métropole de Lyon.
