In 2001, Maelle Arnaud joined the Institut Lumière, Lyon's film library, where she was responsible for expanding the film collections and directing programming: 1,000 screenings per year, including retrospectives, tributes, film concerts, conferences, and artist invitations (attracting 126,000 spectators in 2024).

In 2009, she helped create the Lumière festival, which, edition after edition, has built solid relationships with film archives around the world by offering the festival as a showcase for the films they restore. The festival's programming has also become a driving force for French rights holders in their restoration plans, and privileged relationships with American studios have enabled the production of new material on a large number of titles.

Since 2023, she has been in charge of restoring a collection of 300 Lumière films, and in 2025 she produced Thierry Frémaux's new documentary Lumière, l'aventure continue (Lumière, the adventure continues), which showcases more than 120 of these films and was released in theaters on March 19, the 130th anniversary of the invention of cinema.
