Csaba Bereczki is a director, producer, and Director of International Relations and Distribution at the National Film Institute in Hungary.
After studying at the University of Theater and Cinema in Budapest, he continued his studies in France, first at FEMIS in 1992, then at Ateliers Varan in 1994. He worked in France as an assistant director with Jean-Paul Rappeneau, Marco Ferreri, and above all Tony Gatlif, among others. He directed his first feature film in 2003 (Le Chant des Fous, starring Maia Morgenstern and Julie Depardieu, among others), followed by documentaries on traditional music, Chant des Vies (2006), Orgue-a-Feu (2008) and SOUL EXODUS (Best Documentary 2017 in Hungary, Special Jury Prize Warsaw 2017).
He is the producer and co-producer of other projects by Hungarian directors (Márta Mészáros, Gyorgy Pálfi, etc.).
Since 2011, he has been appointed Director of International Affairs at the Hungarian Film Fund (now NFI) and representative of Hungary at Eurimages. He is responsible for co-productions, international relations, distribution, platform, and international sales managed by the Fund.
