President of The Centre National du Cinéma et de l'Image Animée (CNC)A former student of the École Normale Supérieure, Gaëtan Bruel had been Chief of Staff to the Minister of Culture since January 2024. He was previously Deputy Chief of Staff to the Minister of National Education and Youth.
Between 2019 and 2023, Gaëtan Bruel headed the cultural services of the French Embassy in the United States, including the promotion of French film, audiovisual, video game, and digital creation in that country. With Villa Albertine, he created a tailor-made residency program in 2021, which has already benefited 250 creators (as of early 2025), hosted in some 50 cities across the United States. With the active support of the CNC, he has also set up a unit in Hollywood to promote France's audiovisual appeal.
Previously, as advisor to the Minister of Defense (2012-2016), he was behind the creation of the army's cinema mission; as advisor to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs (2017-2019), he coordinated the opening up of economic diplomacy to the creative industries. In the meantime, he administered the Pantheon and the Arc de Triomphe within the Centre des Monuments Nationaux.
