Camille Blot-Wellens

Camille Blot-Wellens is an independent film historian, researcher, and archivist.

She started collaborating with film archives in 2000 on identification, research, restoration, and training projects, and more notably worked as associate restorer for the Filmoteca Española (2000-2007), Head of Film Collections of the Cinémathèque française (2007-2011), and Project manager at the Svenska Filminstitutet (2016-2019). Specializing in Early Cinema, she is the author of two books and numerous articles. She is also currently a member of the FIAF Technical Commission, and the FIAF Code of Ethics Revision Project Coordinator.

She is teaching at Université Paris 8 since 2012 ans is currently Associate Professor, and co-responsible of the master in film studies, specialization film heritage, as well as part-time lecturer at Université de Lausanne in Film Archiving and Restoration. She is actually doing a PhD at Université Paris 8 on the collection of early films at the Swedish Film Institute.

In 2018, she was the recipient of the Jean Mitry Award (Il Giornate del cinema muto, Pordenone) and the Outstanding Achievement Award for Film Preservation (Film Heritage Foundation, Mumbai).
