Danial Brännström is the Head of Accessible Film Heritage at the Swedish Film Institute.
Danial Brännström started working at the Swedish Film Institute in 2001, becoming a curator at Cinemateket in 2005. He was appointed Head of the Cinematheque in 2014 and has been part of the Management Group of the Swedish Film Institute since 2017. During 2019 and 2020 he was responsible for the Film Institute’s digital strategy. In 2023 he was appointed Head of Accessible Film Heritage, a unit aiming at making the Swedish film heritage accessible – from both a quantitative and curated perspective, nationally and internationally. The unit lends films from both the analogue and digital film collections to cinemas, festivals, cinematheques and other screening bodies in Sweden and globally. The unit is responsible for Filmhuset's two cinemas, Bio Victor and Bio Mauritz and for Cinemateket, which has the task of increasing knowledge and interest in film history and film as an art form.
