Hugues Peysson

Hugues Peysson is the Director of L'atelier d'images.

After starting his career at Arte Vidéo, he and Pierre Paga set up L'atelier d'images in 2005, followed in 2017 by L'atelier Distribution, a company dedicated to cinema. The company produces documentaries on cinema for television, including portraits of Daniel Prévost and Jean-Paul Rappeneau (Lumière Festival), René Clair and Jean-Paul Belmondo. It is currently making films about Pathé Baby films and the adventure of Ciby 2000.

It publishes videos and distributes programmes in 3 main areas:

Heritage films with editions of The Army of the 12 Monkeys (Terry Gilliam), Existenz and Crash (David Cronenberg), Ragtime (Milos Forman).

Recent film productions include Marcel le coquillage avec ses chaussures by Dean Fleischer-Kamp (Oscar nominee 2023 in the Best Animated Film category), Limbo by Ben Sharrock (Cannes 2020), Et j'aime à la fureur by André Bonzel (Cannes Classic selection 2021), and soon Maja une épopée finlandaise by Tiina Lymi and The Shameless by Konstantin Bojanov (Un certain regard 2024).

Historical and social documentaries: No Other Land by an Israeli-Palestinian collective, which won two awards in Berlin, Nelly and Nadine by Magnus Gertten, Hôtel Terminus (Marcel Ophuls), The Lady in Number 6: Music Saved My Life by Malcom Clarke (Oscar for Documentary Short).
